Google Analytics

  • Scope of data collection This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies” to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about the user‘s use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Only in exceptional cases, the full IP address is sent to and shortened by Google servers in the USA.

On behalf of the website provider Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating the user‘s use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website provider. Usage of Social Media Plugins

This website features plugins that enable the user to interact with social media platforms. In order to protect the privacy of the user, the implemented „Shariff“ plugin prevents the scripts of the social media platforms to be executed upon page load. Instead, the plugin‘s script gets activated solely when the user explicitly clicks on the relevant button. This applies for all social media plugins with exception to the direct integration of Twitter content on the page „Latest News“. Apart from that, this website only causes an exchange of data between the user‘s browser and social media platforms upon the user‘s active initiation.

  • Facebook
This website uses social plugins (“Plugins”) of the social network facebook.com, which is operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”). The plugins are recognizable by one of the Facebook logos (grey „f“ on a dark blue tile with the word „share“).

The browser will establish a direct connection with the servers of Facebook only when the user clicks on such a plugin. The provider has no control about the scope of data that Facebook collects with the help of the plugin and informs the user according to the provider‘s own level of knowledge:

By activating the plugin Facebook receives the information that a user has requested the relevant website, the date of the visit as well as some information in relation to the user‘s browser. In case the user is logged in to Facebook, Facebook is able to associate the visit to the user‘s Facebook account. Any interaction with the plugins, for example sharing content, will lead to the user‘s browser sending the relevant information directly to Facebook where it will be stored. In case the user is not a member of Facebook, Facebook may nevertheless retrieve and store the user‘s IP address. According to Facebook, in Germany only anonymized IP addresses are stored.

Regarding the purpose and scope of collecting data and the further processing and usage of data by Facebook as well as the user‘s rights and options to safeguard privacy, reference is made to the data privacy statement of Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

If the user is a member of Facebook and does not wish Facebook to collect the user‘s data via this website and to combine it with membership data stored at Facebook, then the user must not click on the social media plugin‘s button. Facebook‘s profile settings allow for further configuration and for entering an objection against usage of data for advertising: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.

  • Twitter
This website features website elements (https://dev.twitter.com/web/overview) such as buttons or embedded content of the service Twitter, provided by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA („Twitter“). With the help of the website elements content of this website can be shared on Twitter or to follow the provider on Twitter. The twitter plugin can be recognized by the twitter logo on a light blue tile accommodated by the word „tweet“. Furthermore, specific tweets can be embedded into the website.

If the user visits a sub-page of this website that embeds Twitter content (e.g. „Latest News“), the user‘s browser establishes a direct connection to Twitter‘s servers. On every other part of the website the plugin will be activated only upon the user clicking on it.

The provider has no influence on the scope of data that Twitter collects with the help of the website elements and informs the user according to its level of knowledge. According to this, only the IP address of the user and the URL of the relevant website will be transferred upon usage of the button, but be used for other purposes than rendering the website element.

More information about this can be found in the data privacy statement of Twitter under http://twitter.com/privacy.

  • LinkedIn
This website uses social plugins of the social network „LinkedIn“, which is operated by LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA („LinkedIn“). LinkedIn‘s plugins can be recognized by the grey „in“ on a blue tile accommodated by the word „share“.

The browser will establish a direct connection to the servers of LinkedIn only if the user clicks on sucha plugin. The provider has no influence on the scope of data that LinkedIn collects with the help of the plugins and informs the user according to its level of knowledge:

By activating the plugin, LinkedIn receives the information that a user has accessed the relevant site of the website, from which website the user was coming and to which website the user switches. Apart from that further information about the user‘s device will be collected (e.g. device identifier, operating system, web browser, installed add-ons, proxy server, ISP and, if applicable, location data). In case the user is logged in to LinkedIn, LinkedIn is able to associate the visit to the user‘s LinkedIn account.
